Visas & translations

Going to China on an Austrian passport – do you need a visa?

With an ordinary Austrian passport you can visit China visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, visiting family and friends, exchanges or transit (the rule runs until 31 December 2026). For work, study, journalism and similar purposes, or for stays over 30 days, you still need a visa in advance. Not sure? Send us your nationality and travel plans and we will tell you what you need.

Do you charge for visa advice?

The first consultation is free. We work out which visa you need and give you a document list and a timeline.

What documents do I need for a China visa?

Everyone needs a passport that is valid for at least six more months and has two blank visa pages. Everything else depends on your nationality and the type of visa. Tell us which passport you hold, why and when you are travelling, and we will give you the list for your case.

I used to be a Chinese citizen. What do I need for my first China visa?

On top of the usual documents, the original of your former Chinese passport and a copy of its photo page. If you have had a China visa before and now hold a new passport, include copies of the old passport's photo page and the earlier visa; if your name has changed, add the official proof of the name change.

How long does a China visa take? Can it be faster?

Normally 5 to 10 working days. If you are in a hurry, an express application takes 2 to 3 working days.

Do I have to give fingerprints in person for a China visa?

Not at present for short-term visas with stays of up to 180 days, such as family visits, tourism and business; this rule runs until 31 December 2026. For work, study or long-term family reunion visas you usually still have to give fingerprints in person, so please ask us first. The rules can change at any time, so what our staff tell you for your case is what counts.

I do not live in Vienna. Can I post my passport to you for a China visa?

Yes. Get in touch first so we can tell you which documents you need. Once the visa is issued, we post your passport back to you. For visas that need fingerprints, you will have to visit the visa centre once in person.

Which other visas can you arrange?

Visas for Japan, the US, the UK and other countries, for tourism, family visits, work and business. Whether you need a visa at all depends on your passport, where you are going and why. Send us those details and we will check for you.

Do I have to collect my passport myself?

No. We follow your application and post your passport to you once the visa has been issued.

Can you arrange translations and certification?

Yes. We arrange certified translations and the certification of documents such as proof of relationship or education. If you are not sure what you need, send us a photo of the document.

Flights, trains & coaches

How do I book a flight? Can I buy it on the website?

Not on the website itself. Send us where you are flying from and to, your dates and how many people are travelling by WhatsApp (+43 664 336 1868) or email, call us, or come to the office. We will find suitable flights and fares for you.

Do you only book flights to China?

No. As an IATA-accredited agency (06210713) we book flights all over the world, as well as train and coach tickets.

Can I change or cancel my ticket?

We handle changes and refunds for you. Whether a change or refund is possible, and what it costs, depends on the airline and the fare you bought.
